A study was conducted to explore maximum residential densification on a former school site, with the context serving as a key factor in the configuration. The design is based on the concept of the casa di ringhiera, or railing house. The shared circulation areas and entrances are organized around an inner courtyard, with walkways at different levels. The galleries are wide, providing spaces for interaction and fostering social cohesion.
Through the central courtyard, all residents have access to the communal orchard located behind. Each dwelling features a terrace and offers interesting views and natural light thanks to its orientation. The design fits perfectly within its surroundings: on one side it connects to a blind wall, while on the other side there is an open strip leading to the presbytery, which is set back from the street. The central round entrance gate refers to the former school gate and serves as a large, welcoming gesture from the street toward the courtyard and vertical circulation.
