This house is now 15 years old and still holds a special place in our twenty years of work. We believe the answer lies in its modest and unobtrusive character; in the subtlety and wonder of light, materiality, spaciousness, atmosphere; the relationship between the inside and outside.
The house faces south and accommodates a large program on a compact footprint within a narrow plot. The compact volume is surrounded on three sides by a canopy that forms a loggia along the south side together with the porches. The canopy forms a covered entrance with a carport on the east side and a bay window on the north side. The porches and canopy on the glazed southern façade act as sunshades.
The house embodies a symbiosis of modernity, craftsmanship, and authenticity.
