The former priory site of Hunnegem is divided among several stakeholders. The most historically valuable part has been repurposed to serve a museum function. The central wings accommodate various care services. At the far ends of the elongated site, a residential care center and a primary school have been established respectively. A management plan was drawn up, and in several phases, different buildings—with and without heritage value—are being repurposed and/or renovated.
The kindergarten is housed in a more recent building block that has been extended and integrated with the surrounding greenery. The most recent phase, completed in 2021, involved transforming a former banquet hall and dormitory floor into a multipurpose indoor and outdoor space along with new classrooms.
