    About this project

During a large-scale restoration in the late 1990s, the rock plastering was removed from the façade. Since then, the water-damaged west façade has been given seven layers of paint. The façade became increasingly vapour-tight, causing the plaster at the inside to come loose under the influence of salts. In 2010, we were asked to remedy this damage in the choir and the west façade. After material research and various tests, work began on removing the various layers of paint – a very difficult task. There was a great deal of brick damage and destructive plant growth. The work took a long time, during which it was crucial to allow the building elements to dry out during the successive phases. First, the outside was tackled, then the inside.
